Tips and Hints for the professional handling of ITR products

rotec® products are manufactured using the latest manufacturing and production processes. The materials used are subjected to constant quality control procedures carried out at our facilities. In order to utilize the product properties of rotec® sleeves in the most efficient manner and to increase the longevity of your sleeves, you should adhere to the following recommendations. In case of questions or technical problems, please consult with your rotec customer service or your sales representative.

Prerequisites
In order to assure a problem-free mounting of the rotec® (H/C) Bridge Light sleeves, rotec has to be provided with the cylinder drawing. In case a cylinder drawing is not available, rotec needs the following information:

printing machine, manufacturer and model
outside diameter of the cylinder
face length
exact number and position of the air holes in the cylinder
the exact position and size of the register pin
exact dimensions of the bevel

Air pressure
The pressure, when measured at the air cylinder should be between 6 and 8 bar (87-116 psi). The air volume should not drop below 12 liters per second (0.42 cubic ft/sec.). The air pressure for the mounting of the nyloflex®ITR sleeves should be between 4 and max. 7 bars (58-102 psi). Unnecessarily long or branched supply lines also reduce the air pressure drastically. The air supply, as well as the cylinder surfaces, should be free of moisture, oils, lubricants and inks. Check from time to time to make sure the air outlet holes are not blocked.

Maintenance and care
Oils, lubricants and inks residue should be removed as quickly as possible from the sleeve to maintain the sleeve’s surface properties over the long term. For this purpose, we recommend using our plate/sleeve cleaning system, Enviroflex, with its associated pad. Your rotec customer service or your sales representative will gladly assist you in selecting the correct Enviroflex products for your needs. Suitable cleaning solvents for nyloflex®ITR products are ethylene, acetate and acetone in concentrations less than 10%. Isopropanol and isopar C are to be used in concentrations less than 25%. Please observe our separately published care instructions for conductive sleeves with Ω - surface technology. Stronger residue can be removed with a soft nylon brush. Lubricant or oil-containing solvents should not be used as they negatively affect the surface properties. Let the sleeve air dry for about 30 minutes after cleaning to allow the solvents to evaporate completely. Do not expose nyloflex®ITR to UV-light and ozone. Finally, never treat the sleeves with acids, alkaline solutions and salt solutions or with any objects that may scratch the surface.

Mounting
First mount the H/C Bridge Light sleeve on the cylinder. Lock the interlock notch by turning it counter clockwise into the pin of the cylinder. To simplify this process, rotec® has incorporated on the H/C Bridge Light sleeve a guiding groove on the opposite of the interlock notch. For optimal air flow make sure the air holes of the air cylinder and the groove of the H/C Bridge Light mandrel are on top of each other. Now mount the nyloflex®ITR. Please note that this sleeve requires sensitive handling. Use soft, fluffy free gloves and make use of your palm. Do not touch with wet, greasy or fatty fingers nor apply any loads. Make sure that you don’t hurt the surface by sharp items. Position the nyloflex®ITR on one edge with a slight angle on the H/C Bridge Light sleeve. The bevel eases the positioning. Carefully move the sleeve up and down until the air holes on the edge of the Bridging Mandrel are completely covered. Use both hands to push the nyloflex®ITR sleeve on the rotec® H/C Bridge Light sleeve.

Demounting
Remove the nyloflex®ITR sleeve from the Bridging Mandrel in one quick movement. Unlock the interlock notch of the H/C Bridge Light on the register pin by turning it clockwise and demount the bridge.

Storage
If you do not use a rotec® storage system, please observe the following points:

1 in principle, sleeves should be stored individually

2 sleeves should never be stacked one on top of the other

3 sleeves stored vertically should be secured to avoid accidents

4 applying weight and continuous loads may affect the T.I.R. (Total indicator reading) of the sleeve

5 high humidity at elevated temperatures (tropical climate) next to dramatic changes in storage temperature can affect the lifespan of the sleeve

6 nyloflex®ITR sleeves should be stored in the original boxes in which the sleeves are delivered

7 quoted external diameter is valid only when assessed using DIN 50014 (23°C / 73 degrees Fahrenheit and 50% humidity)
