BLANKET AND ROLLER WASHES
 VARN ABC WASH - Strong, Economical Wash For Automatic Blanket Cleaners
This Baldwin approved, water miscible wash is uniquely formulated to give superior performance in
automatic blanket cleaners on web presses. Its strong cleaners quickly remove ink and solvent
soluble resins and binders. When mixed with 20% to 40% water, Varn ABC Wash removes water
soluble gum glaze, lint paper dust and stock coatings very economically.
VARN CALIFORNIA WASH - A Nonphotochemically Reactive Water Miscible Wash
California Wash forms a superior emulsion to permit mixing with up to 30% water for removing water
soluble glaze, lint and stock coatings while still delivering a powerful solvent cleaning action and maintaining
a pleasant odor. It's pleasant to use, emitting no vile odors or strong irritating vapors into the
pressroom atmosphere.
VARN MICROKLEEN - Ultra Low VOC Press Wash 
The Varn brand continues its tradition of developing eco-friendly products with its new patent-pending
Ultra Low VOC MicroKleen press wash. VOC-exempt petrol solvents and vegetable oil-based press
washes are fine if you want a Low VOC wash with 50 - 70% reduction in VOCs. But when your sustainability
goals are higher, a low VOC wash is not enough. You need MicroKleen, an Ultra Low VOC wash (<100 grams
VOC per liter of wash) that can reduce VOCs by up to 90%.
The MicroKleen green technology is a safe and effective alternative to traditional washes. MicroKleen
encapsulates the ink, allowing you to easily and safely wipe it away with just water. Plus, you to get back to
color immediately with virtually no paper waste. And, MicroKleen is economical because its superior cleaning
ability gives you better results with less wash.
VARN VMW WASH - High Quality Performance at An Economical Price
VWM Wash has the superior emulsion-forming capability to mix with up to 50% water and maintain the
superior cleaning power of 100% solvent washes. However, unlike “solvent only” washes, VWM Wash
removes water soluble glaze, lint and stock coatings quickly and economically.
VARN WASH A-230 Varn Wash A-230 was carefully formulated with help from Heidelberg and from Böttcher Roller Company. It's formulated to clean modern rubber compounds and will not harm the elastomers orsynthetic ingredients used in blanket and roller manufacturing. Up to 25% water may be added to this blanket and roller wash to help simultaneously clean solvent based ink and water based gum glaze,paper dust, lint etc. Varn Wash A-230 works well on any manufacturers blankets and rollers.
VARN WASH V-60 - For Automatic Wash-up Attachments
Varn's Wash V-60 is a strong, water miscible wash designed for use full strength in automatic washup
units on sheet-fed and web presses. Wash V-60 can be mixed with up to 50% water to remove both
solvent soluble and water soluble glaze in a single washup.
VARN WASH V-120 - The Industry's Finest Water Miscible Wash
Wash V-120 is a special blend of solvents and cleansers formulated to quickly and thoroughly clean
and rejuvenate lithographic blankets; rubber, composition and synthetic rollers. Wash V-120 contains
Hydro-Flex, a press proven combination of modern antioxidants, rubber rejuvenators and synthetic
detergents. These additives cut and remove ink and glaze, reduce rubber oxidation and prolong the life
of rollers and blankets.
VARN WASH V-133 - An Effective, All-Purpose Cleaner
Wash V-133 has high ink solvency without excessive solvent strength. It gives a deep-clean washup
and actually prolongs roller and blanket life by leaving the surface in a smooth, ink receptive condition.
In fact, with the addition of modern antioxidants and plasticizers, Wash V-133 helps prolong blanket
and roller life, while maintaining them in a revitalized condition.
VARN WASH V-253 - Strong, Fast Drying Wash
Wash V-253 is a blend of the high performance Wash V-120 and the powerful but economical Wash
V-133. This has produced an exceptional general usage, water miscible wash that will thoroughly
penetrate and remove a wide range of inks, glaze, lint and other contaminants with economy and
efficiency.
VARN WASH V-275 - Low Odor, Dual Service Wash
Wash V-275 combines all of the characteristics a press operator is looking for in one wash. V-275 is a
strong, aggressive water miscible press wash with pleasant odor. It's flash point of 106° makes it a
non-red label product. Wash V-275 contains no methylene chloride and has a low vapor pressure.
When mixed with water, V-275 will remove both solvent soluble and water soluble glazes in one
washup. V-275 outperforms competitive “odorless” products.

VARN RESPONSE 4400 - Strong, Fast Drying, Blanket and Roller Cleaner—Water Miscible
Response®4400 contains a combination of high performance ingredients that will thoroughly remove
litho inks, glaze, lint and other roller and blanket contaminants economically and effectively.
VARN RESPONSE 4405 - Economical, High Quality, Blanket and Roller Cleaner—Water Miscible
Response®4405 is formulated to mix with up to 50% water and still maintain a powerful cleaning
action. Unlike “solvent only” washes, Response®4405 removes solvent and water-soluble glaze, lint
and stock coatings quickly and economically when mixed with water.
VARN RESPONSE 4410 - Automatic Blanket Cleaning Wash—Water Miscible
Response®4410 is a strong wash designed for use full strength in auto wash-up units on sheet-fed
and web- fed presses. Because of its high flash point, mild odor and tough cleaning action,
Response®4410 is the perfect wash for the modern, safety conscious pressroom. It can be mixed
with 20 - 30% warm water for effective removal of both solvent and water-soluble glazes.
VARN RESPONSE 4415 - Environmental Blanket and Roller Cleaner
Response®4415 contains 50% VOC (3.5 lbs. per gal.) with a flash point over 200 degrees F. This
homogenized product is a strong, deep cleaner that removes water and solvent-soluble glazes in one
step. Roller and blanket cleaning products with low VOC's have a reputation of being oily and slow drying.
The Response®Environmental Wash Series does not fit that stereotype. Response®4415 is so
unique, the formula and manufacturing process have a patent pending.
VARN RESPONSE 4420 - Economical, Everyday, Roller and Blanket Cleaner
Response®environmental washes support your need to lower VOC emissions and still provide strong,
effective blanket and roller cleaning action that will remove stubborn ink and gum glaze in a single
step. Response®4420 contains 35% VOC with a flash point over 150° F. which makes this product
ideal for printers who have automatic blanket washers and serious VOC restrictions. It can also be
used as an effective cleaner in manual applications.
VARN RESPONSE 4425 - Economical, Everyday, Roller and Blanket Cleaner
Response®environmental washes support your needs to lower VOC emissions and still provide strong,
effective blanket and roller cleaning action that will remove stubborn ink and gum glaze in a single
step. Response®4425 contains 55% VOC with a flash point over 150° F. This product is ideal for
printers who have automatic blanket washers and moderate VOC restrictions. It can also be used as
an effective cleaner in manual applications.
VARN RESPONSE 4430 - Economical, Everyday, Roller and Blanket Cleaner
Response®4430 is for the short run shop that has several wash ups a day. It's an economical,
non-water miscible cleaner that has low skin irritation and low rubber swell and is designed for
frequent or prolonged use.

Response 4450 is formulated to mix with up to 50% water and still maintain a powerful cleaning

VARN RESPONSE 4800 - Fast Acting Press Wash That Meets VOC Regulations — Water Miscible
Response®4800 is a fast acting press wash containing less than 800 grams per liter VOC.
Response®4800 is water miscible and offers excellent cleaning strength. It is an excellent general
use press wash that effectively removes a wide range of inks, glaze, lint and other contaminants.

VARN SUPER-LENE - An All Purpose Small Press Fountain Solution
Super-Lene desensitizes the nonprint area and keeps it clean without gray backgrounds. In-plant
printers can now have big press results over long runs using a wide variety of plates - often without
adjusting the fountain solution.
VARN TOTAL - The Industry Standard Fountain Solution
Total™ is the original press proven formula designed for sheet-fed and web presses. Total is a
buffered fountain solution that requires no additives. Total is designed to run in most medium water
conditions on conventional, bareback or alcohol dampening systems, on aqueous or solvent developed
metal plates.

VARN MAJESTA 400 - Alcohol Free, One Step, Web Fountain Solution For Continuous Dampening
Majesta 400 is low in phosphates but cleans up plates fast for quick start-ups with less waste.

VARN MAJESTA 620 - High Speed Web Fountain Solution For CtP Users
This highly buffered formula can be used in a variety of water conditions from RO (Reverse Osmosis) up to moderately hard tap waters. A unique wetting system will allow optimum performance with the high speed dampening systems on web presses. Majesta 620 optimizes print quality on high speed presses and is compatible with conventional or CtP plates. Majesta 620 is low in phosphates and safe for use with catalytic systems.

VARN INK DRYING STIMULATOR - A Water Fountain Additive To Speed Ink Drying
Varn's Ink Drying Stimulator is a special water fountain additive which improves the surface drying of
lithographic inks. By speeding surface drying, “ink set-off” is reduced, jobs turn over faster, with less
chance of smudging and streaking and there's an overall reduction or elimination of the use of spray
powder. The use of Ink Drying Stimulator can speed up production schedules, particularly on jobs
where ink drying is a problem.
VARN JET WET - Varn's Original Alcohol Replacement
Varn Jet Wet provides reduced surface tension to your fountain solution so your plates wet up better
through the entire run. You'll be running a thinner film of water and ink to get better print quality,
faster ink drying and a big reduction in press problems. Unlike alcohol, Jet Wet does not have to be
replenished due to evaporation. Jet Wet works exceptionally well with the more advanced fountain
solutions such as “Total” and “Litho Etch”, which contain surface wetting agents.
VARN NON-PILING ADDITIVE - Water Fountain Additive That Reduces Stock Piling and Glaze Buildup
Non-Piling Additive is a special water fountain additive used to reduce or eliminate blanket piling or
glaze build-up and the transfer of paper coating into the ink train. Field tests have shown it's most
effective in web newspaper and commercial web offset, and also in business forms printing when
running stocks that have a tendency to pile.
VARN PAR - Unique Alternative to IPA and Alcohol Replacement
PAR is a unique formulation that optimizes a printer's ability to print quality work on alcohol dampening
systems and conventional systems. It allows a dampening system to apply a thinner, more uniform
film of water on the plate. PAR helps to form a stable water-in-ink emulsion without altering the body
of the ink. Ideal for printers who wish to comply with increasing regulatory pressures regarding VOC

30% concentrate version of Apollo 800. Provides excellent slip and eliminates static problems at 6-8 ounces per gallon. Bright white, thus eliminating "yellowing" of the sheet.

40% concentrate with anti-stat. Mix 5 ounces per gallon of tap water.
VARN APOLLO 840
50% concentrate with anti-stat. Mix 4 ounces per gallon of tap water.
VARN APOLLO 800
60% concentrate with built in anti-stat. Provides excellent slip and eliminates static problems at 3-4 ounces per gallon. More uniform application than conventional silicones allows for lower dosages and improved re-moisturizing of the web.

VARN AC CLEANER 77 - Designed to Effectively Remove Aqueous Coatings
AC Cleaner 77 works quickly to remove even dry aqueous coatings. Designed to clean by emulsification
rather that dilution, AC Cleaner 77 cleans quickly and more thoroughly than conventional cleaners.
AC Cleaner 77 contains no ammonia and, because it has been manufactured with a lower pH (9.5),
will not corrode metal.
VARN BLACK MAGIC- Asphaltum Gum Etch for Metal Plate Storage
Varn Black Magic will cut start-up waste by cleaning up quickly and completely, and by protecting the
plate during downtime and storage. Varn Black Magic is designed to give superior results with all aluminum
plates. Does not contain glycol ethers or chlorinated hydrocarbons.
VARN BLUE VELVET - Printers' Formula Hand Cleaner and Conditioner
Blue Velvet®will remove ink, dirt and grease from hands and leave them totally clean... you will use
less product than with lotions or creams, and dramatically less than caustic or abrasive powders or
emulsified solvents. Blue Velvet does not contain phosphates, harsh alkalis or acids to irritate your
skin, yet it cleans as no other hand cleaner before. You have to try Blue Velvet to believe it.
VARN BRUSH FLUSH - Cleans Dampening and Circulator Systems
Brush Flush is a strong, versatile cleaner that will keep dampening systems clean and contamination free.
Brush Flush can be mixed economically with water and used to clean the dampening circulator
system to remove any debris, contamination or biocidal growth. It can also be used to clean brush and
spray dampeners to eliminate those same sources of press problems. Brush Flush is not a bleach,
and unlike other cleaners, is formulated to be compatible with Varn acid fountain solutions.
VARN CLEAN AND LUBE (CANADA ONLY) - Numbering Machine Cleaner and Lubricant
Varn's Clean and Lube is a blend of powerful metal cleaners and lubricants designed to clean numbering
heads, patent base hooks and other metal parts. Clean and Lube will penetrate to even the most
inaccessible part, removing hard, caked-on ink and other shop grime. Clean and Lube should be a part
of every pressroom's maintenance program. As it evaporates, Clean and Lube leaves a fine film of
lubricant on moving parts to prevent sticking and to reduce friction.
VARN COMPLETE - The Full Service Plate Cleaner
Complete Plate Cleaner is just that. . .complete. Complete Plate Cleaner is compatible with most
plates, cleans and desensitizes the non-image area of the plate, removes minor scratches, and can
even be used for plate storage. Complete is low-VOC, and its cream-like texture and viscosity make it
easy to apply.
VARN DAMPENING SYSTEM CLEANER - Superior Cleaner For Maintaining Dampening Systems
DSC quickly dissolves accumulated ink scum and paper debris from fountain pans, transfer hoses and
recirculator tanks. Regular use as part of the press maintenance program will prevent the build-up of
these potentially quality robbing contaminants. DSC is a strong cleaner, but will not harm feed lines or
recirculator pumps.
VARN FILM CLEANER - Cleans Film and Prevents Static Cling
One quick wipe removes dirt, grease, fingerprints and tape marks from expensive film. Varn's unique
“antistatic action” keeps dirt and dust from resettling on the cleaned surface.Varn Film Cleaner is a
professional, solvent type product and is completely safe for any film base or emulsion. It dries fast,
won't streak or leave a residue, and won't dissolve or remove a water based opaque. Use with
lint-free cloth.
VARN GLASS CLEANER - Professional Glass Cleaner for the Graphic Arts
This is a professional product formulated for the graphic arts industry and should not be confused
with households cleaners. With push-button convenience, it quickly cleans glass on light tables, stripping
tables, darkroom and vacuum frames. Varn's anti-static action retards dust attraction and eliminates
pinholes on negatives, saving valuable opaquing time. Varn's Glass Cleaner is nonabrasive and
completely safe to use on coated camera lenses. Leaves no residue, streaks, etc., and cannot distort
images.
VARN GRAPHIC SHOP CLEANER 24 - Multipurpose Detergent Pressroom Cleaner
Graphic Shop Cleaner 24 is a highly concentrated detergent formulated with special emulsifiers to
remove printing ink, spray powder, paper dust, oil and other dirt found in graphic arts plants. Graphic
Shop Cleaner 24 is a dual system cleaner that works with both water and most of the Varn pressroom
solvents.
VARN MRC - Metering Roller Cleaner — Cleaner For Rubber Dampening System Rollers
Nonchlorinated metering roller cleaner for continuous dampening systems and other dampening
rollers. Nonphotochemically reactive formula dries quickly and leaves no residue.
VARN LVP MRC - Metering Roller Cleaner— Quick Drying with Extra Cleaning Power
Nonchlorinated metering roller cleaner for continuous dampening systems and other dampening
rollers. Nonphotochemically reactive formula dries quickly and leaves no residue. LVP MRC is
equivalent to a 30% VOC cleaner in States that recognize the Vapor Pressure Guideline of U.S. EPA.
It contains no methylene chloride and is safe to use as directed.
VARN ORANGE SCRUB - A Natural Citrus Oil Cleaner
Varn Orange Scrub citrus oil naturally and effectively breaks down and removes ink, dirt, grease and
grime. Microbead scrubbers get skin clean without harsh pumice. Unique emollients replenish natural
oils and prevent dry cracked hands.
VARN PLATE PLUS - Alkaline Cleaner for Tough Cleaning Jobs
Plate Plus plate cleaner quickly and completely opens offset plates, even after long periods of
storage. Use Plate Plus to remove tough scratches, oxidation, spots, semi-dried ink and gum streaks
which reduce print quality. Plate Plus restores the ink receptive surface - just apply and rinse.
VARN REJUVENATOR "XL" - An Economical One-Step Rejuvenator (CANADA ONLY)
This one-step cleaner and rubber rejuvenator, for blankets, rollers and rubber parts, dries fast and is
less expensive than most rejuvenators. It removes solvent soluble glaze, friction glaze, light embossing
and even stubborn blanket stains. One-step Rejuvenator “XL” is as easy to use as a regular
blanket wash-and since it does not have to be removed, you can cut wash-up time almost in half.

Sav-Rol is designed to clean and maintain dampener covers. It's effective cleaning action restores the
natural nap of the material for longer usage. Safe to use with all brands of molleton, rayon and other
fabric covers.
VARN SPOTLESS - Premium Film Cleaner With No Hexane
Varn's Spotless premium film cleaner has been developed to remove dirt, grease, fingerprints and
tape marks from expensive film. Varn's anti-static qualities keep dirt and dust from resettling on the
cleaned surface. Spotless does not contain hexane. Varn's Spotless is a solvent product and dries
fast, will not streak or leave residue. Also cleans metal and glass on vacuum frames, stripping tables
and art equipment.
VARN SUPER RUBBER REJUVENATOR (SRR) - Bring Overused Blankets Back to Life
Super Rubber Rejuvenator cleans and deglazes rubber fast, while restoring new life and printability to
even the most glaze-blocked blankets and rollers. This excellent rejuvenator will pay for itself many
times over in increased productivity. Varn deglazers and rejuvenators are the key products in our press
proven maintenance systems, and are used in combination with a Varn prime water miscible or
environmental wash for superior maintenance results.

True Blue Plate Cleaner quickly and completely opens all types of metal offset plates, even after long
periods of storage. Use True Blue to remove surface scratches, oxidation spots, semi-dried ink and
gum streaks which reduce print quality. True Blue restores the ink receptive surface. Just apply and
rinse. Clean plates “on the fly” on web offset presses to minimize downtime, extend plate life and
increase the impressions per plate.
VARN ULTIMATE DEGLAZER - Calcium, Gum and Ink Glaze Remover
Ultimate Deglazer effectively removes all three types of glaze in a single step eliminating the need to
stock additional "calcium remover" which adds an extra step to the wash up procedure. Ultimate
Deglazer is mild to rubber surfaces and easily removed from rollers and blankets by using a quality,
water miscible wash.
VARN VARNTINE Plate Conditioner - A Mild Plate Cleaning Solvent
Varntine was developed to replace toxic turpentine or strong hazardous solvents used to wash out
metal plates or forms in the pressroom. Varntine employs a blend of high flash point solvents and
additives with a controlled drying time for efficient use.

Zap is a non-methylene chloride metering roller cleaner for continuous dampening systems and other

sheeting to eliminate static.
VARN CALCIUM ELIMINATOR - Removes Calcium Build-up From Rollers and Blankets
Varn's Calcium Eliminator answers the problem of eliminating calcium build-up caused by hard water
and the increased use of alkaline papers. Calcium build-up, in the form of white glaze, robs rollers of
their printability and eventually causes stripping and complete loss of productivity. This calcium glaze
is not readily water soluble or solvent soluble and is not removed by conventional glaze removers.
Regular use of Varn's calcium eliminator will totally prevent this build-up.
VARN COMPOUND 747 - Special Ink Additive — Makes Good Ink Run Better
Compound 747 reduces tack, improves ink lay on all types of stock and prevents sheets from sticking
to blankets. It mixes easily with ink, making it more workable and reduces the volume of ink required.
With Compound 747, less water is needed to maintain balance in offset printing, and ink/water balance
is easier to control so that good inks run better on all press sizes and with both offset and letterpress
inks.Compound 747 reduces picking and ink crystallization and is ideal for multicolor work.

VARN EASI-FOLD CONCENTRATE - Paper Softening Solution — Promotes accurate, easy folding
Use Easi-Fold Concentrate in a softening metering system to apply it to the web stock prior to the folder
of the press. It quickly penetrates and softens the paper fibers, permitting faster, more accurate
folding of signatures. In the bindery, Easi-Fold Concentrate will give a tighter fold and sharper backbone,
yet it won't stiffen or cause the area to become brittle. It's highly concentrated for economical

Ink-Readi is a formulation of antioxidants which apply a protective film against ink skinning on rollers,
in fountains or in cans. This is a professional product and will not change the color, consistency or
drying speed of any offset or letterpress inks - even when trapping ink on the fourth color. Spray on
ink rollers and ink fountain when the press is down for make-ready, lunch break and overnight. Spray
new rubber to reduce oxidation, as well as roller ends to prevent glaze, friction and cracking. Ink-Readi
does not contain wax.
